Of course he is known for his wall delineating about what is now England from Scotland, but he has many other notable achievements. Some call him one of the “Five Good Emperors”, while others are not such great fans. Regardless of your feelings about this great historical figure, your feelings about this exceptional gold coin minted almost 1900 years ago are likely not in great question. As numismatists, we love to see pieces like this!
This is an excellent example for the grade, which Numismatic Guaranty Corporation deems Choice Fine. Strike 5/5, surfaces 3/5. We are pleased to offer this diminutive yet scarce gold coin to our serious collectors in Southern California and all over the States.
Obverse: IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG / Laureate and cuirassed bust right with exposed upper part of breastplate visible.
Reverse: JP M TR P COS II, SALVS AVG in exergue, Salus, draped, seated left on throne, feeding out of patera in right hand snake coiled around and rising from altar to left and resting left arm on back of throne.
