A lovely and exciting coin for collector of all kinds. This worn but lovely denarius is a fun coin for collectors because although it’s over 2100 years old (minted circa 124 BC), the reverse theme has been oft repeated through history. Obverse slightly off-center, reverse well-centered.
Quintus Fabius Labeo was from a dynasty of powerful Roman politicians, and likely ran and helped conquer what is now Spain for the Roman Empire.
The reverse, Jupiter at the reigns of a Roman chariot with four horses, is one of the most famous in ancient coinage. Collectors of modern world coins recognize this reverse from some of the most famous coins of Italy from the last century.
