Palos Verdes Coin Exchange is pleased to offer you an extremely rare and exquisite find today, a Seleucid (or Seleukid) Kingdom Bee / Rose. Only the third example known to us, this diminutive Greek copper coin is in an excellent state. NGC grades this coin Choice Fine.

Minted near the beginning of the second century BCE, this coin is attributed to Seleucus IV (also known as Seleukos IV Philopater), a Seleucid King whose coins aren’t always easy to find. This piece of Hellenistic Greece is from a tumultuous period during the Seleukid dynasty. Only two other examples have been documented to our knowledge in over two thousand years of coin collecting. If you would like a rare coin, avail yourself of this excellent opportunity, it may never come again.

The obverse features a bee, typical of Ionia. The reverse features a rose, also a not uncommon coin motif from this period in early coinage history. This coin was minted just four hundred years from the beginning of coinage as we know it. NGC grades this rare piece Choice Fine.
