George Washington was a beloved figure in early American history, almost deified. His refusal to accept coronation and his overall victory in the Revolution made him highly admired amongst his peers.

As the country mourned his death, many showed their solidarity with America’s first president by wearing small medals. This such funeral urn medal was worn by someone who held Washington dear.
