This is a very exciting coin we’re thrilled to have in the shop. This humble Seated Dime was part of the passenger material recovered from the S.S. Central America “Ship of Gold”. This is also an excellent example of Seated Dime, grading solid Very Fine for details remaining. Which makes sense, considering this silver dime was only in circulation for about 10 years. 57 1847 U.S. dimes were recovered from the Central America in it’s most recent exploration, and of those only 31 graded finer than this piece. Comes in a bespoke PCGS holder containing also an encapsulated gram of gold dust from the wreck. This is a nice example of an exciting coin recovered from an amazing U.S. shipwreck.
