Palos Verdes Coin Exchange is pleased to offer a lovely example of one of the most beloved coin types in United States History: an 1822 Capped Bust Half. In addition to being a beautiful coin in excellent state of condition, it’s also interesting in that it came from a Vault Box, and therefore has a grade out of 10 rather than one of the typical Sheldon scale. (This does not in any way add to the coin’s value, but for collectors – particularly for collectors of interesting slabs – it may make this offering even more interesting.)
We believe if the coin had a standard Sheldon grade, it would likely be in the low Extremely Fine (EF or XF) range, likely 40. The black holder within NGC’s capsule sets the coin off in an attractive manner, too. Just now over 200 years old.
NGC grades the coin 7/10 for its vault box.
