We are pleased to present a 1576 Leeuendaaler from the Gelderland, the Netherlands, or Dutch Lion Dollar. This silver dollar sized coin, indeed the coin the US Dollar is named for, would have circulated in the colonies through the 16 and 1700s. It was a common monetary instrument through the US Colonial period, and coins like this were used here and all over the world in trade.
This coin may appear to exhibit some shipwreck effect and has been cleaned like many recovered silver coins from this period. This is an exciting opportunity to add to your World “Dollar Type” set. Certified Genuine by NGC.
